Fancy Pigeons

I recently took an interest in fancy pigeons after passively watching an episode of The Nature of Things. It was either about pigeons or evolution, but in either case it showed fancy pigeons and I immediately was surprised how varied their appearances can be with selective breeding. I already enjoy drawing and painting birds: I have a whole sketchbook full of motion sketches of seagulls, ducks, and geese I used to draw while I went to the park with my brother; I also have …

Sketching Indoors in the Winter

It is amazing what places are hidden in Montreal. This is the first time I’ve visited the greenhouse at the Westmount Library, which is free and open to that public, alongside the USK: MTL group. We were figuring out where to go, and this turned out to be the perfect place because it was sunny and warm and full of cheerful greenery that is a rare sight in the winter. Steadily, I drew and painted with my pencil and watercolours for 3.5 hours. It is …

Happy New Year

I hope everyone is taking a moment to reflect on their 2014. I know I’ve accomplished a lot this year, and I am very proud of myself. Everything from starting up our business, finishing so many comics, working in television, writing major proposals, attending the Montreal Comic Con twice… it’s hard to say I did nothing. Oh yeah, I forgot – I learned a new language. Well, almost – still working on that one.   What do you aim for next year? Aside from …

Montreal Mini Comic Con?

Just a quick heads up that I will be at the Montreal Mini Comic Con this Sunday (December 9th), which is happening in the same place from 11 to 5 pm. I believe entry is $5 and the event is supposed to focus on comics. I will be bringing my comics, prints, and some new printed postcards of my Frying Pan Man comic. I hope to see you there! If you can’t be there, please let others know about it.

Montreal Comic Con – A Success

On the weekend for September 12th, a friend and I went to the Montreal Comic Con with our art merchandise. I’ve been planning for this for over a year. I had 2 original comics, 4 different prints in varying sizes, a collaborative comic. I didn’t set my expectations very high – business-wise, I only really wanted my table fee back in profit. I was really worried I wouldn’t sell a single comic, let alone print, but I’m happy to say I sold plenty and …

We have a table!

Hey everybody in Eastern Canada – maybe I’ll be seeing you at the Montreal Comic Con this year? We have a confirmation on our table, we just bought all our printing paper (self-publishing), and I’ll be working hard to pump out as much as I can before September. We’ll be selling original comics, which includes my much overdue sci-fi comic I have been slowly piecing together since 2010. We’ll also been selling 11×17 prints. Here is one:     Please make sure to check …

Commissions

I am currently working on the poster for an indie. film coming out in 2016, called Astronomy Walkers. I’ve also been commissioned to illustrate some props. You know, when someone is drawing in a movie and on the sketchpad, there is a near perfect sketch? That’s going to be me. Here is one that is already finished.     I had another commission that I considered quite unusual. I was commissioned by a PS3 player to illustrate his profile banner. It was unusual because this guy …

Last of 2013 Life Drawing

I have been very busy studying French and working on setting up our new creative start-up, Stereokroma Creative Services. Please have a look at our show reel – that ate up some time too. 😉 To say the least, I fallen a bit behind on updating my site while still producing lots of artwork. Hmm, what to do with all this art? I would really like to selling my new life drawings and any old artwork (like pre-2009). My old artwork needs a …

Montreal Comic Con with Syn Studio

Reflection of this in 2017: This is a 3 part series about the Montreal Comic Con and the Artist Alley. I made this series during my internship at Syn Studio as promotional and educational content in 2013. Have a watch as a lot of artists are featured so there’s lots to learn about them. These videos pre-date the start of Stereokroma TV and are shot with a DSLR and Rhode Mic, nothing more, so they are what they are. I was in the midst …

Self Portrait Day 2013

New artwork added today. Today is Self Portrait Day, a yearly event that has been going on for quiet some time. I did this in about 3 hours looking into a mirror in low-light. Why do I always come out looking so angry?
